Coffee and Food

we believe the perfect cup of coffee deserves equally thoughtful food.

The Atmosphere

Step through our doors and the pace changes. Low light, warm textures, and the quiet hum of conversation echo the coffeehouses of 16th-century Istanbul, places where philosophers, poets, and merchants once lingered for hours over a single cup. We built Ottoman Coffeehouse to be Glasgow's version of that same room: unhurried, welcoming, and made for staying a while.

The Ritual

Coffee here takes whatever form suits it best. Ibrik remains our signature, the same long-handled copper pot used in Istanbul four hundred years ago, where finely ground coffee is brought to a slow simmer, never a boil, until a thick foam crowns the surface. But alongside it, our specialty beans are also prepared as slow, precise V60 pour-overs and siphon brews, methods chosen to let each curated bean speak for itself, whether that calls for the immersion of an ibrik or the clarity of a filter.

Every bean we serve is sourced from roasters we've sought out across the world, in the same spirit as the merchants who once carried coffee along Ottoman trade routes not growing it themselves, but knowing exactly where to find the best of it, and having the judgment to bring it home

The Food

Coffee this considered deserves food that doesn't fight for attention. Our menu is built to complement the cup, not compete with it, dishes chosen and tested by our own kitchen to hold their own alongside a slow-brewed Turkish coffee or a rotating single-origin filter, rather than the usual sandwich-and-soup default of most coffee shops.
